Frosted or Clear LED Tubes, which one to choose - B-Lite

One of the questions often asked by our customers is which type to choose between, the Frosted and Clear Led tubes, and which one is suitable for your office, shop, or warehouse.

To answer this question, we must first explain their differences and what to consider when we want to buy them.

It should be noted that the Frosted or the Clear LED tubes have different characteristics that we will try to thoroughly explain in this post to help make an educated decision.

Clarity

If you are looking for a way to see the inner components of the LED tubes, it can be for the style effect or to be able to tell that everything is working fine; you will need clear LED Tubes; their transparent glass allows you to detect any damage quickly.

On the other hand, Frosted LED tubes have an opaque and frosted cover that will prevent you from seeing any components making the light source invisible and giving them that fluorescent tube look.

Even though this characteristic isn’t essential, it’s still a choice, sometimes just from how your LED tubes will look.

Brightness

When it comes to brightness, the difference is not related to the type of glass, but more to the bulb strength, efficiency, wattage, number of lumens, etc.

However, the noticeable difference will be in the glass’s shadow; the clearer the glass, the sharper the shadow, which means that if you would like a soft shadow for your shop or workplace, your choice should go to the frosted tube.

Saying this, we still need to add that Clear LED tubes are 40% brighter than the same power of frosted tubes.

Shatterproof

If you are looking for resistant and shatterproof LED tubes, you should choose the Frosted LED.

The cover of the Frosted LED comes from a sleeve placed all over the bulb that provides shatterproof qualities to its glass housing, making it perfect for places that need their lighting to resist breakages.

Pricing

There’s no difference between Clear and Frosted LED tubes when pricing; type of usage and preference will be the main factor in your choice.

When to use Clear or Frosted LED tubes

Suppose you are looking to lighten warehouses, construction areas, or other commercial places. In that case, your best option should be clear LED Tubes, which with the correct wattage and lumens, will be able to light large surfaces and achieve the highest level of lumens and efficiency from the fixture.

Clear LED Tubes are more appropriate for work environments with large amounts of dust and fog, like workshops, mines, or subways.

Frosted LED tubes will be perfect for smaller offices and shops; they cast a subtle and soft shadow and are easier on the eye; they also present fantastic hiding capabilities for LEDs with only losing a small percentage of light transmission.

Conclusion

There’s no correct answer as to which is the best light bulb for you. It all comes down to your type of lighting environment and your preference.

We offer both frosted and clear LED tubes, and all our products meet strict safety, energy efficiency, and reliability requirements. In this post, we have done our best to detail all of the different characteristics of clear and frosted LED lights. We hope this post will serve as a quick guide for you all when choosing which led tubes best accommodate your needs.

Lighting is often overlooked, and it is truly underestimated how simply choosing the right one will make the most impactful difference in your business, office, shop, etc.
